Sustainable Alternative

It’s flexible, it's reusable, it's recyclable, it's biodegradable, it’s protective.

No Nasty Plastic Toxins

This is the future of packaging, supporting our British farmers and our environment.

We Only Use British Wool

We set out to find an eco-friendly packaging solution to replace plastic packaging. That’s when we discovered wool. Wool is a recyclable, biodegradable material that's massively underused. It’s also flexible, protective, insulative, flame retardant, soft, fragrant… we could keep on going.

At Woolship we believe wool is the solution to all your packaging needs. Whether you’re a business looking for an eco-friendly shipping solution, or an individual wanting to do your part for the planet, we've got you covered.

Wool Packaging For Every Need

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes WoolShip packaging different?

WoolShip provides an innovative wool packaging solution for the mass market. We are the sustainable, eco-friendly, reusable and completely biodegradable alternative to nasty plastic packaging, that supports our British farmers.

What should I do with the WoolShip packaging when I am done with it?

There is so much you can do with the wool once it’s reached you as the end user. Here’s some of our favourite things to do.

1. Reuse it as packaging. Keep it and use it the next time you need to send something.

2. Reuse it in the garden.

a. It’s a fantastic natural slug deterrent (the wool has micro-barbs on it, making it uncomfortable for slugs to slide across it).

b. It’s a brilliant natural fertiliser. Either put it in the soil (whole or broken up) or put it in the compost. It breaks down naturally with oodles of great nutrients for your plants.

c. Use it as weed preventer. Put it around the base of your plants or flower beds to prevent weed growth (it doesn’t last forever mind, it does biodegrade)

d. Use it as a basket liner. Because it’s naturally water repellant, it’s great for lining beds, baskets and pots.

e. Compost it with everything else.

f. Use it as insulation. Either in the home or for your pets.

g. Use it as pet bedding. It’s great for your chickens, rabbits, guinea pigs or any other small animal. It could be used in your dog beds, as long as it’s used as an internal material.

h. Felt it: you can reuse if you’re particularly crafty.

3. Make it circular (returns)

a. If you would rather send it straight back to us, you can. We’ll use it again and put it straight back into the process.

Where do you source the wool from?

The wool we use comes from British farmers across mainland Great Britain. You’ll never find imported wool in our products. If you’re committed to buying local and need significant quantities, we could also look to source from regions through the British Wool traceability scheme.

What can I use WoolShip packaging for?

Anything. You can use WoolShip packaging as an alternative to your usual packaging to keep your items safe whilst it is being shipped. It is a great alternative to bubble wrap, packaging peanuts and polystyrene.

Does the wool smell?

It has a faint odour, but we think the wool smells lovely. The wool goes through the washing process so that it becomes soft and smooth with none of the original farm smells.

For large bespoke orders, we can also add a scent of your choice to the wool.

What sizes can we provide?

If you have specific needs, don’t be shy as we can be very flexible. We can do any pre-cut widths between a minimum of 25cm and maximum of 198cm. Anything in between is possible and the length: Minimum length is 25cm and maximum length really is unlimited.

Thickness: We’re currently supplying 500gsm which is relatively thin, but we can produce 800gsm or 1000gsm for thicker wool if you need it.
